Progressive Download Seek (PDSeek)

Many video and audio files are now delivered over HTTP (progressive download) due to favorable economics and ease of set up. In the past, there was a trade-off since some functionality available with "true" streaming protocols was not available with progressive download. One important feature that fell into this category is the ability to "jump" to different parts of the video or audio file without waiting for the prior segments to be downloaded first. Now content providers can have the best of both worlds: Panther's Progressive Download Seek (PDSeek) provides the seamless ability to skip forward within progressive downloads.

Overview

Typically, video files delivered over HTTP must be downloaded completely before a user can view a certain part. By leveraging Panther's PDSeek capability, your end users can skip to any part of the video file immediately. Our customers benefit as they:
